Americans spent more in June on international travel than they did before the pandemic, according to the U.S. National Travel and Tourism Office
They spent $17 billion — up from $15.4 billion in June 2019. On just goods and services like lodging and food, Americans traveling abroad spent $10.9 billion, which exceeded $9.8 billion in June 2019.
Between January and June, Americans traveling abroad spent $103.8 billion, up from $93.4 billion for the same period in 2019, according to the U.S. National Travel and Tourism Office.
International travelers in the U.S. aren’t keeping up. They spent nearly $17.4 billion on travel to, and tourism-related activities within, the U.S. in June, down from $20.3 billion for the same month before the pandemic. Total spending on just goods and services like lodging and food amounted to $9.6 billion, down from $12 billion in June 2019.
International traveler spending in the U.S. from January to June totaled $102.1 billion, up 38% from 2022. On average, international travelers spent more than $564 million a day.
